This interview series started at Taylor Mead's apartment on Ludlow St. in the Lower East Side. I was visiting him to shoot a video portrait for my Objectification series. Taylor thought it was an interview, and I didn't waste the opportunity with such an icon.
One of the things that bugs me most about documentaries, especially interviews, is the structure. I prefer a non-linear structure to these types of things, and I seem to see so few pieces this loose. There are a few versions of bathtub interviews that break the rules. But I needed to come up with my own format, which is being developed as I write this.
This I know: I love non-linear interviews, and I love fringe people, be it locals or celebrities. I love meeting and talking to people who have unique existences, and I love putting the camera on them even more.
